Removing stains from upholstered furniture

Methods for removing common stains:

  • Liqueurs – dip a washcloth into the cold water and gently rub at the stained area with it.
  • Butter - such stains should be removed immediately by using the mixture of warm water and detergent. Finally, rub the dirty place with a cloth and water.
  • The milk - clean with the cloth that is soaked in cold water and detergent, and then rub with a damp cloth.

  • Mould - fresh stains can be cleaned up by rubbing it with the cloth soaked in the oxygenated water. The leather upholstery should be wiped with a cloth moistened with a product that you may use to rinse of mouth. Finally use cold water and a cloth to rub the stain.
  • Makeup - Use a clean cloth and detergent with water to absorb as much of the makeup spill as possible. Finally moisten a cloth with hot water and rub it over the stain.
  • Rust – sprinkle table salt and squeeze several drops of the lemon juice all over the stained area immediately. Then your upholstery should be left for about an hour. Finally moisten a cloth with hot water and rub it over the stain.
  • Grease – Rinse your cleaning cloth in a bucket of water and detergent ,then wipe away the stain . You may also use a bleacher.
  • Sauces - use a clean cloth, solvent or the detergent with water. Finally moisten a cloth with hot water and rub it over the stain.
  • Stearin – Scrape off any obvious wax residue., then lay a paper towel over the remaining wax and lightly press a warm iron on the paper towel. Pull away the paper towel and check for any change in the leather. Rub the leather area with benzine and finally moisten a cloth with hot water and rub it one more time, over the stain.
  • Lipstick – Wipe stain with a cloth dipped in the benzine, mild detergent or stain remover . then you may use methyl alcohol and finally moisten a cloth with cold water and rub it over the stain.
  • Fats - if the fat is cold, try to use the method just like with the butter. But if your fat is still warm, rinse your cleaning cloth in a bucket of hot water and detergent ,then wipe away the stain .
  • Tobacco - clean it with the solution of the vinegar and water. You may also rub the stain using the detergent plus methyl alcohol. Finally moisten a cloth with hot water and rub it over the stain.
  • Urine – sprinkle table salt all over the stained area and rinse your cloth in a bucket of cold water to wipe away the stain. If still the stain is visible try to clean it up by using sal-ammoniac or the vinegar. Finally moisten a cloth with hot water and rub it over the stain.
  • Wine - sprinkle table salt all over the vine stained area immediately and allow the salt to absorb the liquid and the coloring. Gently brush the excess salt from the leather and finally moisten a cloth with cold water and rub it over the stain.
  • Wax- – the wax should be covered with the ice cubes and scrape off any obvious wax residue, then rub the leather area with stain remover and finally moisten a cloth with cold water and rub it over the stain.
  • Vomit – firstly, dry it and then gently scrape to remove solids. Rinse your cleaning cloth in a bucket of water with soda and the detergent ,then wipe away the stain. Finally moisten a cloth with hot water and rub it one more time.
  • Resin – remove the stain using the cloth, soaked in the turpentine, and then in water with soap. Finally moisten a cloth with hot water and rub it one more time.

Cleaning the leather upholstery, you have to remember to wipe a damp cloth over the stained area especially when a chemical detergent was used to remove the stains. Finally you have to remember to dry your leather with a lint-free cloth
